Global Ballooning is thrilled to announce its participation in the upcoming Big Balloon Bash competition event in Mildura. From 29th June to 7th July, 2024, Global Ballooning invites you to experience a breathtaking display of hot air balloons soaring through Mildura’s picturesque landscapes while being part of thrilling competitions. The event is free for spectators, however of course, the best view is in a balloon!
Since the retirement of the local operator a decade ago, commercial flights in Mildura have been unavailable. Adding to the anticipation, Mildura will commemorate 20 years since hosting the 16th World Hot Air Balloon Championships, with an expected 25 balloons adorning the skies during the 2024 competition. The event promises a vibrant display of colour and action, evoking memories of past ballooning glory. Briefings and passenger rendezvous will take place at the newly established Powerhouse facility along the Murray riverfront, inviting passengers and spectators to engage with pilots and crew for an immersive experience.
Global Ballooning will have limited spaces available, accommodating up to 32 passengers per day across sunrise and afternoon flights, ensuring attendees of the Big Balloon Bash will have ample opportunity to partake in the magic of hot air ballooning against the stunning backdrop of Mildura’s landscape throughout the 9-day event. Additionally, there will be a Night Glow event featuring an array of balloons illuminating to music.

Sunrise flights – approx. 5.45 – 6.15am
Afternoon flights – approx. 2.30pm – 3.00pm

Christie Centre Night Glow:
Sunday 30th June, 2024 | No. 1 Oval, Mildura Recreation Reserve
Gates open at 5.30pm. Catering available, market stalls & entertainment prior to the glow that will begin after sunset. Music will be set with the rhythm of approx. 20-25 balloons glowing for approx. 25 minutes. Weather dependent.
