If you’re looking for the ultimate romantic experience, nothing could possibly beat the intimate nature of hot air ballooning. Holding your loved one close as you watch the world wake up below you? Hard to think of anything to top that!
And for the hopeless romantics looking to pop the question, what better setting than high above in a balloon?
2. The views…
You’ll be hard pressed to find better views of Melbourne or the Yarra Valley. Flying up to 5,000 feet above the ground, hot air balloons offer an incredible vantage point to appreciate just how beautiful the land below is (and unlike an aeroplane or helicopter, you have 360 degree views surrounding you and an amazing perspective of course.
3. More views…
Even if you think you know Melbourne, there’s nothing like seeing it from the basket of a hot air balloon. From high above with a bird’s eye view, you really appreciate how stunning the 'world’s most liveable city' is. From the meticulously laid out city streets, to the lush gardens that surround it, a one-hour balloon flight over Melbourne will show you a side to the city you would never have known about. Don’t even get us started on the rolling hills and colourful vineyards of the Yarra Valley!
4. Realising a childhood dream/ticking off a bucket list item:
When thinking of hot air balloons, we often think of our bucket list. Hot air ballooning is a hobby for some and they may be lucky enough to do it regularly. But for most of us, we’ve dreamt of floating high above the clouds since we were children. The sense of fulfilment when you finally get to fly in a hot air balloon is incomparable to anything else, and it never fails to disappoint.
5.See the sunrise in a way you’ll never forget:
Think of it this way - the higher you are in the air, the more of the horizon you can see. Taking off in the dark hours of the morning allows us to be up in the air to watch those first rays of sun creep up in the distance, and transform into magnificent sunrises.
6. The best way to overcome a fear of heights:
Hot air balloon flights are nothing like walking onto a balcony of a tall building or staring out from the door of a helicopter. Your ascent is at a gentle and slow pace, allowing you to acclimatise to your surroundings, and there is no sensation of vertigo whatsoever.
You also have beautiful views right in front of you and you aren’t constantly staring down, so it really is the best way for someone with vertigo or a fear of heights to fly!
There is also no turbulence, and the balloon doesn’t have a motor or an engine so there is no noise (a part from the burner occasionally), and no shaking, so it’s a much calmer and weightless experience than a helicopter or aeroplane flight.
7. It’s more than just a flight:
Unlike a helicopter or aeroplane flight, our pilots allow you to help set up and inflate the balloon, which is extremely fun and beautiful to see up close. Our pilots and crew have great personalities and are always happy to share with you their incredible stories and experiences.
With a great understanding of the ballooning world, as well as the land that you fly over, think of a hot air balloon ride as an immersive touring experience, and your pilots are your friendly guides!
